DIY Cleaning Scrub Paste
DIY Natural Cleaning Scrub Paste
Container: By Me 500ml Glass Jar & Lid
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 5 minutes
Three ingredients. One jar. A scrub paste that tackles the jobs your spray bottle can't.
This thick, natural paste is made for grout lines, soap scum, baked-on grime, and anywhere that needs a bit more elbow grease than a spray-and-wipe. Bi-Carb Soda brings the gentle abrasive power, Castile Soap lifts the grease and grime, and Tea Tree Oil adds natural antimicrobial properties - all stored beautifully in a By Me glass jar.
What You'll Need
- 1/2 cup Bi-Carb Soda
- 1/4 cup Castile Soap
- 10 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
- 1 x By Me 500ml Glass Jar & Lid
Why These Ingredients?
Bi-Carb Soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a gentle, non-toxic natural abrasive - perfect for scrubbing bathroom surfaces, grout, and toilets without scratching or damaging surfaces the way harsh chemical scourers can.
Castile Soap is a true plant-based soap made from saponified vegetable oils. It lifts grease and grime and helps bind the paste together, giving it a workable, scrubbable texture.
Tea Tree Essential Oil is well known for its natural antimicrobial properties, making it a great addition for bathroom and high-touch surfaces. It also gives the paste a clean, fresh scent without synthetic fragrance.
Method
- Add 1/2 cup of Bi-Carb Soda to your By Me glass jar.
- Add 1/4 cup of Castile Soap.
- Add 10 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil.
- Mix until well combined into a smooth, thick paste.
- Pop the lid on and store until ready to use.
To Use
Dip a wet scrubbing brush into the paste and apply it to the surface. Let it sit for a few minutes - longer for deeper, more stubborn buildup. Scrub well, then rinse and wipe away with water and a sponge.
Perfect for grout lines, sinks, baths, toilets, and any hard surface that needs a bit more scrubbing power.
One Important Note
Castile Soap does not mix with acidic ingredients. Do not add vinegar or citric acid to this paste - it will curdle and break down. If you need to tackle hard water marks or calcium buildup, treat those separately with a citric acid solution.
Storage
Store in the sealed glass jar at room temperature. The paste may firm up slightly over time - simply stir or add a small splash of water to loosen before use.
