DIY Natural Shower Cleaner

One ingredient. Two minutes. Soap scum and water marks, gone.
Citric Acid is a natural, plant-derived acid that dissolves mineral buildup - think soap scum, hard water marks, and limescale - without harsh chemicals or fumes. This simple spray is all you need to keep glass, tiles, and tapware looking their best.
What You'll Need
- 2 tbsp Citric Acid
- 500ml Water
- 1 x By Me 500ml Glass Spray Bottle
Why Citric Acid?
Citric Acid is a naturally occurring acid found in citrus fruits. It's brilliant at breaking down mineral deposits - soap scum, hard water marks, and limescale - that build up on shower screens, tiles, and tapware over time. It's biodegradable, gentle on surfaces, and free from the harsh fumes of conventional bathroom cleaners.
Method
- Add 2 tbsp of Citric Acid to your By Me glass spray bottle.
- Fill with 500ml of water.
- Screw on the spray top and shake well until the Citric Acid is fully dissolved.
To Use
Shake before use. Spray generously onto shower screens, tiles, and tapware. Leave for a few minutes to break down soap scum and water marks, then wipe clean with a cloth or sponge. Rinse with water for a streak-free finish.
For heavier buildup, leave the spray to sit for longer before wiping.
One Important Note
Citric Acid is acidic, so don't combine this spray with Castile Soap — mixing the two will cause the soap to curdle and separate. Keep this as a standalone formula for best results.
